Opting Out of Vaccination is "Recipe for Outbreak"
ReplyDeleteI feel this goes without being said but the number of people who choose not to vaccinate their children is shocking. And now hundreds of children are getting sick with potentially life-threatening illness all because of people's ignorance. So I love any piece of modern media (like this video) that points out the importance of vaccinations. My hope is that maybe, just maybe, with enough informed content out in the world, the ignorant anti-vaxxers will figure it out and vaccinate their children before it is too late. A lot of time in discussions (especially philosophy) it is hard to distinguish who is right or who is wrong, but this is not one of those times. Vaccines are right, Measles are wrong. I will happily go toe-to-toe with anyone who wants to argue that dead infants are a better alternative to healthy growing children. It's just like Dr. House said, "you know what's a great business? Teeny tiny baby coffins! You can get one in Frog Green, or Fire Engine Red!"
I have to agree with Craig, not receiving these vaccines can be critical and fatal. Why would someone want to risk getting a virus that is so easily spread? It doesn't make sense to me, but then again I don't really know what specific reasons these people have. I have seen where religion could come into play, or that these vaccines could cause more harm than good. But these are inactive extracellular viruses that are being injected, so I don't see how someone could get the disease from the vaccine, and I don't see a proper excuse not to get them.
